Rai was keen on penning from his very childhood. At the early stage he used to write lyrics, memoirs and stories. With the pace of time he diverted his attention to uncover his art of writing in journalism. Even as a journalist by profession, correspondingly he finds singings irresistible. Currently, he has been working as a Sub-editor in Annapurna Post daily.
Rai left Dharan in 2057 BS with a package of mission to pursue Master's Degree in Kathmandu. He continued his study, journalism and singing career side by side. Rai, who says if there is only way to taste the success in life, it is labor, enjoys every single moment of his work. Overwhelming response he won after the grand success to the debut album has encouraged him to do better job in future.
He states that singing and penning are correlated. His art of singing has aided him to understand what journalism really is, Rai says. Hence his voyage in two boats has become easygoing. Rai has been meditating the art of singing in Sangeet Sadhana Kendra since 2060 BS. Meditation is a must to reach the target in singing career, he asserts. Born at Mehele village in Himalayan district of Taplejung, Rai graduated SLC from Shree Nilgiri Secondary School Mehele before joining in Ilam Campus for further study. Though Rai is enjoying the word if singing, he performed various roles in theatre as his first step to artistry. With the pace of time he chose singing and writing. Rai himself wrote six items of song in his first debut album Refresh, which also made him as a popular lyricist.
