Ashok won the prize
Ashok Pyasi Rai of Annapurna Post has secured the third position in National Open Media House Wall Climbing Competition 2007, organized by Pasang Lhamu Mountaineering foundation on the occasion of the 17th death anniversary of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa in May 2007. Twenty-three men and 13 women from different electronic and print media house had partaken in the contest.
In men competition Dhan Bahadur Khadka of Chhalfal weekly and Dev Bahadur Kunwar of Gorkhapatra daily stood in first and second position respectively. In women side Mudita Bajracharya of The Himalayan Times, Dolma Sherpa of Nepal Television and Mandira Maharjan of Nepal Broadcasting correspondingly took home the award of first, second and third position on the occasion.
The Speaker of the legislative parliament Subash Chandra Nembang gave away award to the winners in May 27, 2007 marking the 14th death anniversary of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa. The award carries a purse of Rs 10000, 7000 and 5000 respectively.

Image F.M. takes a new artist as a talent of the month in every month. So as Ashok Pyasi Rai has taken for the whole month of Paush, 2063.
Ashok in concert: Mr. Ashok Pyasi Rai successfully entertained to the fan of food and music through his songs on the auspicious occasion in the 5th International Food Festival 2063 which was organized by The Himalayan Times. That was purely live concert. He had presented two songs from his first solo album "Refresh" in that concert. The title of the songs are "Yo Zindagi and O preyasi". In that very concert some bands like Gypsy Chield, X- Mantra, Jwala and singers like Rose Moktan, Dibya Subba as well as many more artists had entertained the mass as very much through their heart rendering presentation. The festival which was organized in the Birendra International Conference Centre {BICC} was full of by the presence of 23 thousand audience. He had been presenting his songs in many live concerts even before releasing the album 'Refresh'.
'Refresh' Launched
In media circle, Ashok Pyasi Rai is a well-known journalist. A few days back, his identity was just of a media-person but now no more. We have recently witnessed his new avatar i.e. of a singer and a lyricist. On August 22, he cut his first solo album 'Refresh'.
Ashok has been working with a daily newspaper Annapurna Post as a sub-editor for quite a long time now. In his album releasing ceremony, that popular figure who graced the occasion as a chief guest was none other than the veteran singer Phatteman Rajbhandari. The other guests were Bharat Sakya, station manager, Image FM and Hema Manandhar, managing director, Nepalese Fashion Home among others.
On the occasion, Bharat Sakya, musician Raju Singh and musician Shanti Ram Rai gave their opinions regarding Ashok and his debut album. On the day, two of the music-videos from 'Refresh' were also premiered.'Refresh' is released under the label of a new music company -- Kass Production Pvt. Ltd. The entire songs of 'Refresh' is pen down by the singer himself. Whereas the music is composed by Sangit Mung Man, Raju Singh and Paras Mukarung. One of the tracks also has his compositions. On the other hand, the music is arranged by Jems Pradhan, Deepak Thapa, Norbu Tsering, Shila Bahadur Moktan and Nabin Karki. 'Refresh' comprises pop and folk pattern of songs. |
